About “Scottish Kelpie Tales”
Scottish Kelpie Tales follows the adventures, of Aqay the kelpie and Robin, the lad she has chosen for her master. Initially the tales cover Robin’s adventures as a lad, and as a young laird.
Later episodes of the tales will follow the lives and adventures of his descendants. From hiding from the invading English, to defending the Kelpies from capture and death, the descendants of Robin face, and survive, many challenges and adventures thanks to Aqay and her loyalty.
But, what will happen when there are no sons to carry the memory, the kelpies are forgotten, and the highlands are being harried?
Scottish Kelpie Tales Book One: The Kelpie and The Fugitive
Life changes in an instant, and Robin’s life is no execption. Living with his father, his quiet forester life is rudely disrupted by the hired mercenaries of his laird. With his father slain in his own cottage, Robin flees blindly into the forest. Luckily evading his pursuers, he makes his way to a neighboring laird’s land where he finds employment as a stable hand.
Strangely, after a month there, a new horse is brought in. One that Robin recognizes as no true horse. Aqay is a kelpie, and she had no intention of being tamed by any man. At least, unless she chooses him herself.
But, peace cannot last when old feuds are raised between neighbors. And some suitors do not lightly forgive a perceived slight.
Scottish Kelpie Tales Book Two: The Kelpie and The Lady
With one neighbor feud close to ending, Robin rejoices as he prepares for his betrothal to Laird Etheliel’s daughter, Mary. However, the betrothal party is late, and the kelpie wind is bringing hints of dire happenings.
With the Etheliel’s kidnapped, many of their men wounded, and only Robin and Aqay with speed enough to pursue the kidnappers, will they succeed, or will they fail?
Love can overcome mountains, but what about armies, hunters, and ancient feuds?
Scottish Kelpie Tales Book Three: The Kelpie and The Heir
Robin and Mary have been happily married for six years, with twins a lad and a lass of four. But, danger is rising around them as one friend has a past that is rapidly catching up with him. And, another hint of the past is also rising, one who will stop at nothing for the sweet taste of revenge.
When unjust attacks fail, and their perpetrators fall, sometimes relatives do not believe the tale. Holben’s younger brother has sworn revenge, and he has no qualms about using every means possible to take it.
A kelpie foal wanders from it’s pool, and two children form a bond that is inseparable. When enemies strike, it will take all the skills of Scar, Robin, Fergus, and Aqay to rescue the captured. But even then, victory may not bring peace.

A Note on Scottish Kelpies:
The Scottish Kelpie is an animal of traditional myth and legend. Traditionally a Kelpie is a black horse, which dwells within the depths of certain lochs. It is a magical, if threatening creature. The kelpies of Scottish Kelpie Tales also draw on the Celtic legends of the Pookha, a trickster who goes about in the form of a black horse, and can be tamed if bridled by three hairs from his own tail.
