There are many positions and questions surrounding the End of Times, and just as many strongly held beliefs. The following, short study, is a question that has been present for a while. It feels important, and that it needs to be explored. So, as you read, ask God for guidance, look up the verses and references yourself, and don’t rely on just my opinion.
Is Daniel 12 being fulfilled today?
“When that time comes, Mikha’el, the great prince who champions your people, will stand up; and there will be a time of distress unparalleled between the time they became a nation and that moment” Daniel 12:1a
If we go by when they became a nation under the judges, or even David and Solomon, then there are many times of unparalleled distress. Rome, Babylon, Assyria, and WW2 to name a few. But, if we go by when they became a nation in 1948, then we have had one defining, extremely unparalleled distressing moment. October 7, 2023. In honesty, distressing is an understatement.
Israel has been in war since that moment. The distress is still extremely present. But, how does it fit “from the time the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination that makes desolation is set up.”
Well, looking at the direct words used, in Strongs, the word “sacrifice” is implied, but not actually present in the text. So, we can render it “from when the daily is removed, and the detestable that brings desolation happens” there shall be the day count.
Now, normally this is applied to the Temple existing, and an idol being set up in the temple of God. But, there is another option for a detestable thing that makes the land desolate. This is the shedding of innocent blood, or the shedding of the blood of brothers.
A Different Desolation:
In Genesis, when Cain murdered Abel, the land became desolate for Cain and the land would no longer yield it’s strength for him (Genesis 4:11-12). Deuteronomy 19 has similar implications with the cities of refuge to prevent the guilt of innocent blood being added to the land . Lastly, Jesus said “when you see the abomination that makes desolate standing where it does not belong, spoken of by the Prophet Daniel” in Matthew 24:15 – Josephus records, that in the years leading up to 70AD the factions in Jerusalem went so far as to shed innocent blood in the temple itself. Those who fled early, when the factions first became fierce and did these abominable things, were safe, even according to the words Jesus had spoken.
What happened on October 7th, 2023 would definitely fall under the shedding of both innocent blood, and the blood of brothers. Both sides are sons of Abraham.
So, if that can fit as the abomination that causes desolation, then we also have to look at the days listed. There will be 1290 days, then 1335 days. The difference in these numbers is the same as the difference between Passover and Shavuot.
1290 days from October 7, 2023 is Passover 2027. 1335 days, is Shavuot 2027. This is only possible because we have two years with a second month of Adar within a 3 year time period. Normally a second month of Adar is about every five years. This is weirdly close together.
But, more importantly, in 2024 Easter was a full 30 days before Passover. This also led to Pentecost Sunday not pairing with Shavuot (the feast of the first fruits of the wheat harvest also known as the feast of weeks). Normally Easter and Passover have a less-than 5% variance. They’re normally within a few days of each other, not a full month apart.
In 2027 they are a full month apart, again. This variance both in 2024 and 2027 also pairs Easter with Purim, the festival of the casting of the lot. This feels significant and important. In Purim, the lot was first cast for the destruction of the Jewish people, but God turned it around through Mordecai and Esther to become the preservation of them, and many among the nations of Babylon also became Jews for fear of Mordecai in that day. A grafting in of an earlier type.
Easter and Passover are Both Different Marks
Easter’s symbolism is often various forms of crosses, both the traditional crucifixion cross, and an X shaped mark. In Revelation, in the early manuscripts, the number of the Beast was not a number. It was rendered as three different X or cross markings, symbols of sungod worship. The significance of Shavuot is that it is the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and Pentecost represented a fulfillment of that first fruits with Jesus being the first fruits of those that rose from the dead, and the disciples being the first fruits of those who were given the Holy Spirit. But in Matthew 13:14-30, Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of God as a field where both wheat and tares were growing together. It is only at the harvest that they can be separated, but the weeds or tares are gathered out of the wheat field first Then the wheat, and the ability to offer that year’s first fruits offering (Revelation 14:14-16 is another implied wheat harvest). With Passover a month different to Easter, you have Pentecost landing apart from Shavuot and the wheat harvest. Again, this feels significant and important but I don’t quite know why.
Also, Passover is the first feast that God commands the children of Israel to keep. And it is described to them as a “mark on the forehead and on the hand,” in Exodus 13:16. If an X can be a mark of the sun god or adversarial deception, but Passover is also a mark on the forehead and the hand, or a mark of belief and action, then the separation of these two events that are normally close together is significant and we should be taking note.
Why is this all important?
Most of it is conjecture, and maybe a little bit of wanting to be awake and aware. If God is moving, then I want to be watching for His movement and actions. I want to be in obedience to Him, above all else. I have been sleepless over these passages and verses, wanting to speak them out and being afraid of how they would be received. But, I cannot remain silent.
The reason these are important, why we need to pay attention, is because of the Kingdom of God. For nearly 2000 years, the “church” has looked at the Kingdom of God as a spiritual kingdom only. But, when Jesus spoke of the Kingdom being near, he was speaking to a physical nation of Israel, and today we again have a physical nation of Israel. While the Israel of 2000 years ago missed their visitation, because they expected a warring King, not a High Priest after the order of Malchizedek. Today, are we expecting a Priest or Lamb and not a King? Will we miss our visitation, while Israel receives theirs?
Ephesians 2:11-12
11 Therefore, remember your former state: you Gentiles by birth — 12 at that time had no Messiah. You were estranged from the national life of Isra’el. You were foreigners to the covenants embodying God’s promise. You were in this world without hope and without God.
And the passage goes on to say, that Christ has made the two into one new man. A picture of the Kingdom of God. But, looking at the timing of things this year, and ahead in 2027. Are we not still estranged from the national life of Israel and foreigners to the covenants that embody God’s promises? Passover’s promise is that it is the night God keeps vigil for Israel, through all her generations. And, that He brought them out of Egypt with a strong right hand, and therefore will also bring them into the Land He promised with that same power, and sustain them in that land too.
Where Do We Stand?
If we are not with Israel, or with the Biblical feasts, the ones God says are His appointed times. But rather focus on our culturally accepted calendars, with none of our events even in the Bible… are we not still, in a way, foreigners to God’s promises?
The fall feasts in 2024 all land within one Gregorian month, the month of October. This is also highly unusual, and it feels like October may have some move of God within it.
In 2025 and 2026, Passover and Easter coincide. They are only days apart in when they begin. My challenge to you, in light of all this, is to ask God which feast He wants to you keep. To lead you into the Bible, into the Scriptures, and teach you His covenants and promises, and how He wants you to know Him and to draw nearer to Him. Ask Him that for the next two years.
Observing Passover as a Christian is simple, and can be paired easily with celebrating Yeshua’s resurrection. Simply read the Exodus story, and read Christ’s death and resurrection on whatever Sunday falls within Passover. Maybe you’re led to avoid typical Easter products, or to add in unleavened bread. Or maybe you’re not guided to do anything except read the Passover story at the beginning of Passover, and to meditate on it during the week. This will be between Jesus and you. Listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Maybe you’ll be led to study more, and look into the autumn feasts, and the other “Feasts of the Lord” that are Biblical in nature. Interestingly, in addition to the Spring and Fall feasts, Jesus kept both Purim and Hanukah by going up to Jerusalem, neither of these feasts were commanded in the books of Moses. Purim was commanded to be kept in the book of Esther, by Mordecai. And Hanukah was commanded to be kept by the Maccabees, as a commemoration of a miracle. Yet Jesus kept them, and all the fall festivals.
No matter how you are lead, in 2027, follow whatever Yeshua/Jesus has guided you to do. And maybe it will look different than what you did in 2024.
